Presenting Technology & Stuff

by Jamie Bennett

So at the end of this year's World Series between the Royals and  Giants a Chevy representative got a ton of flack for his presentation of the Most Valuable Player. A very surreal moment in baseball. Here is a link if you missed it. Just as an FYI, there are better recordings of this but I didn't bother finding one.

Anyways at work we are releasing a new Chevy service app. and we decided to spoof this presentation. We were thinking, "hey technology and stuff." Read more to see our spoof or click here.

Lunar Logic Art Installed

Here are some shots of the first installation of work to go up at Lunar Logic in Eugene, OR. I am not the best at shooting my work but you'll get the idea. The things featured here are vinyl, stencil and acid etched works. To the left is one of my favorite acid etches from the set. Lunar Logic hopes to brand their entire office and there is more to come – so be sure to check back. If you haven't yet expanded the post, please click "read more" to see a slide show of the gallery.

 More on the way soon.

Mourning Lance Hose

by Jamie Bennett

Lance Hose was a father, husband, photographer and friend. He was a complicated individual. I wish I knew him better but he was always one to keep people at arms length. I will miss him dearly. I utilized his skills as a photographer for over three years. He was great. Great personality and a wonderful photographer. We shared office space, stories and exchanged jokes. We saw each other through good days and bad days. He was a wonderful photographer to work with. He took my all-time favorite pictures of my Llew with Santa. He had a real eye for portraiture. His work constantly surrounds me at Guaranty. You could tell Lance what you wanted in a photograph and he would nail it without effort.

It's interesting how at work and in life we often don't really take into account how much we affect one another. I couldn't have fathomed that Lance wouldn't be coming back today. I think we are often in such a hurry to leave work and get on with our lives. We are so beholden to the clock and it's a shame that at work, there is that barrier of "we have to be here." I wanted to be there with Lance. It was a real pleasure. I loved shooting with him and just talking to him. He has twice my life experience. I learned a lot from him, even though we didn't always see eye to eye on things. I love him like a brother. I hope he knows that. I am sure his real family loves him even more than I could imagine and all my love goes out to them. I am very sorry for their loss. It is a very sad day.

Painting the Art Room (Continued)

by Jamie Bennett

So I really just wanted to throw up a couple images of the rest of our paint job at Roosevelt Middle School. I love the way everything turned out. Here are the last of the cupboards. We decided to incorporate Jake the Dog. The idea was to invite a modern character that kids know to the Keith Haring party. I for one, love Adventure time!

This art is really high in energy and has vibrant colors. I really hope the kids appreciate what we have done here. Even if they don't, it was a lot of fun to work on. I love working with my wife.

Painting an Art Room

by Jamie Bennett

Cascade Colour is donating time and resource to painting and decorating the Roosevelt Middle School in Eugene, OR. We are currently halfway done. We painted Keith Haring imagery all over the cabinets and drawers, as well as installed decals on the windows. We will continue to paint this weekend and we are discussing other imagery to include.

I really love Keith Haring. He is one of my all time favorite artists. I remember seeing his work as a kid and he really inspired me to go into art, to draw more and explore my own style. I really hope that he inspires a new generation of young artists.

I will post more pictures after we go back and do some more work. This room is huge and it has been poorly painted several times by others. It was uninspiring at best. The kids and faculty love what we have done and I can't wait to continue to this project.
